Obviously, we are not having practice on Christmas - duh , or the day after.
We'll be back to our regular time tomorrow. Everyone decided at the meeting last week that the current practice times - 2 on Saturday and 3 on Sunday - worked well for them.
So December 4 - 2 pm, December 5 3 pm
NEXT Saturday December 11 is the --- drum roll please - Masters of Submission Event with Dr. AnnMaria De Mars, Richard Elizalde, Gary Butts, Sam Garcia and Ronda Rousey all teaching chokes and armbars. We didn't get a chance to ask Victor Ortiz yet but we're hoping he will be there, too.
We'll start at 1:30 because we are going to stop early at 5:30 to stuff ourselves with Christmas goodies.
Sunday 3 pm as always
December 18-19 regular times
December 25-26 - CHRISTMAS
December 28 -29 = Camp in San Diego. Everyone should go.
Practice times 2 - 6 pm Sunday unless otherwise noted. Cost is $10 per day practice held at Ogden Judo School, 17034 Bellflower Blvd. Bellflower, California, 90706

Practice Schedule and Events
Just a reminder that practice on Saturday, November 27 will be 10 - 1 after which we will all adjourn to Applebees for food and discussion of next year's events, schedule, etc.
Practice on Sunday will be at the regular time, 3-6 pm
It was very good to see so many of you attend and support the clinic at San Fernando Dojo sponsored by USJA/USJF funding. That's the kind of team spirit that makes you all so successful.
Coming events
There will be a camp in San Diego again, sponsored by California Judo, Inc. As with the last two years, we expect to have a very strong contingent from WCJTC attend.
For all of you that asked, yes, Coach Ronda does have another MMA fight coming up in Las Vegas, January 7 at the Orleans Hotel and Casino. There is also talk of a possible fight for her in December but we don't have any details on that.

NEW TIME, SAME PLACE
HEY EVERYBODY !!!
Don't forget that this Saturday (as in tomorrow) the new practice time starts.
SATURDAY
12:30 - 2 pm First practice -- Ronda will be there along with the usual suspects
3-6 Second practice with Ronda, Gary Butts and Victor Ortiz
SUNDAY
3-6 Blinky, Ronda, Gary and Victor will be there for practice
As for me, I'll be in part of the weekend. Not sure exactly when but I miss you guys.
As usual, work is pretty crazy, but that's good.
Julia will be there, complaining as usual.
Hey, Crystal, how about you use some of those massive you-tube skills to upload some videos here? Or at least link them?
And Rachel, what happened to that schedule?
PLEASE NOTE: People who bring their push-up cards only have two circuits the first practice. Cardless people have three. I know you ALL forgot. Moo-ha-ha (evil scientist laugh)
People who posted on this blog also have fewer circuits. Remember that next time - RONDA !

Short schedule update
As you probably know, it is Visit Another Dojo Month in March. In honor of this we will be visiting a couple of other dojos on three Saturdays. I'll post more details like address, etc. later.
PAY ATTENTION TO THIS SCHEDULE
March 13th - competition at Goltz Judo Club. Those of you who are not competing in Washington should be at the tournament.
March 14 - practice at the training center as usual, 11- 2. Ronda will be running a technical practice for those not attending the tournament in Washington. Expect lots of drills and lots of instruction. If you've been wanting more individual attention, today's the day not to miss.
March 20th - morning practice 10-11:30 as usual. Around 1:30 we will be taking those 13 and under to
Mojica Dojo for a practice from 2-4:00 for a special clinic with Ron Angus. He is a fabulous judo coach from Canada. You can buy his book, Competitive Judo, at Barnes and Noble. If you do, bring it with you to get autographed. Cost for the clinic is $20 per person. If you are 14 and over, you will be practicing with Ronda from 1 p.m. to whenever she decides to take a break. Then, come on over to Mojica's for a clinic from 4:30 - 6:45 (14 and over). Tony apologized for the inconvenience to any families whose kids need to be split up but in the interest of safety we can't fit everyone on the mat in a single session. You can register and weigh-in for the tournament while you are there so bring your USJA/ USJF/ USJI card.
March 21 - Mojica Judo Tournament
March 27th - morning practice 11- whenever we are done at Kohaku Judo Club in Corona
March 28th - practice at the training center as usual, 11- 2. Ronda will be running a technical practice. Expect lots of drills and lots of instruction.
April 3rd Back to normal Saturday schedule 10-11:30, 1-4 pm

Random West Coast News
I was out of town until early Sunday morning and in bed sick. Saturday, Gary Butts was at the Nanka banquet so Ronda ran practice. She must have been pretty tough on everyone because I heard they were actually HAPPY to see Gary when he walked in the door. Word is they preferred Angry Gary over Tough Ronda.
There will be no practice next Saturday, February 27 as almost everyone has decided to compete in the grappling tournament in Ontario. If you aren't doing either I expect you to get caught up and ahead on your schoolwork so there is NO excuse for missing practice in the future.
There WILL be practice as usual on Sunday, February 28th 11- 2 pm.
Crystal has put a lot of videos up on youtube from technical sessions at practice and from tournaments. I recommend that all of the players study those videos.
http://www.youtube.com/user/CrystalBJudo
The coaches will be reviewing your tournament videos and be revising your individual programs over the next weeks.
Coach meeting (not secret, anyone can come)
All coaches are asked to please stick around after practice on Sunday for a brief meeting to discuss scheduled events. Everyone else is welcome to sit in on this meeting and give their input. Topics for discussion
1. What tournaments we want to attend in the next 3 months.
2. A schedule for coaches - just so we know what days people will or won't be available.
3. March is visit another dojo month - which dojos we will visit and when. I'd like us to go to at least one dojo on a weeknight and maybe another on a Saturday afternoon.
4. Special events, for example a clinic in San Jose
5. Website -- people besides me should post to it.
6. Whatever other things I forgot.
I'd like to post all of that information here just so anyone who is in town visiting or simply curious can find out what is up.

WEST COAST JUDO TRAINING CENTER
WELCOME TO THE WEST COAST JUDO TRAINING CENTER BLOG & WEBSITE
After being asked repeatedly about our website which I never got around to setting up, I decided to finally put up a West Coast blog.
In brief, the West Coast Judo Training Center is supported by the United States Judo Association and the United States Judo Federation. It was the first regional training center in the country supported by these two organizations.
The training center is a place where athletes and coaches from throughout southern California come together every weekend to develop their skills, workout and share new knowledge with one another.
LOCATION
537 Vine St., West Covina, CA
PRACTICE TIMES
Practice times are Saturday 10-11:30 and 1-4 and Sunday 11-2.
We often attend events as a group, for example, the winter camp in San Diego, co-sponsored with California Judo, Inc. , Pacific Southwest Judo Association and San Shi Dojo. We just got back early this morning from the San Jose Buddhist Sensei Memorial Tournament.
COACHES
AnnMaria Rousey De Mars
Gary Butts
Ronda Rousey
Richard Elizalde
Victor Ortiz
Two other regions, in Texas/ Oklahoma and Georgia have expressed interest so as we hear more about their progress we will let you know.
